Diverse Books
We are well known for our diverse books. Therefore we are especially interested in giving a platform to fresh voices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion. We’ve worked with authors in the UK, America, Poland, Italy, Tenerife, Canada, Dubai, Nigeria and the Caribbean. Our youngest author is 7 and our eldest is 84. We love working with entrepreneurs, change-makers and daring new voices. Founder, Daniella Blechner says, ‘Being a Black and neurodivergent publisher, we especially champion underrepresented and neurodiverse voices. We are more than a publishing house; we are a community.’

UNDERREPRESENTED AUTHORS
At Conscious Dreams Publishing, we work with authors from all backgrounds, walks of life, races, genders, abilities and disabilities and are dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalised groups and underrepresented authors.
According to the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education’s (CLPE) Reflecting Realities report, ‘9% of children’s books published in the UK in 2021 had a main character from an ethnic minority background, compared to 8% in 2020, 5% in 219, 4% in 2018 and 1% in 2017.’ These figures do not reflect the reality we live in or the lives and backgrounds of so many children living in the UK. Every child deserves to see themselves represented in children’s literature.
We pride ourselves on giving a platform to unheard voices and unseen characters and changing the narrative around addressing the balance, particularly in the African-Caribbean community and neurodivergent writers.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are hugely important to us at Conscious Dreams Publishing. In 2024, we were shortlisted for the Alison Morrison Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award at the Independent Publishing Awards.
